Taft enjoyed a rest from his usual occupation oc-cupation today. In tho morning ho walked to St. Luke's Episcopal church, only a stono's throw from his rooms In tho, hotel, accompanied by Mrs. Taft, and listened to a doctrinal discourse by tho Rev. John G. Scott, tho rector. There was tho same small assemblage that characterized tho services last Sunday Sun-day morning, Iocs than 100 pooplo being present. Upon leaving tho llttlo edifice, Mr. and Mrs. Toft faced a camera as ono of tho inevitable accompaniments of presidential candidacy. Senator Warner, of Missouri, chairman of the notification committee, arrived hero today and talked with Mr. Taft for half an hour. Thoy discussed conditions In Missouri, in which Mr. Taft showed interest. Tho fact that during tho last flvo years many farmers have sold their lands In Illinois and Iowa and moved to Missouri, and that those farmers aro Republicans, Re-publicans, was alluded to as liable to play a part In the campaign. |
