Show EXCITING RACES AT UTAHJTATE FAIR All Events Are Hotly Contested and Finishes Close and Exciting. TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE OCCUPY GRAND STANDS Two Jockies Aro Suspended From Further Participation at the Meeting. The crowd attending- the horse racos was somewhat smaller Thursday afternoon after-noon than on the previous day at tho state fair races. Nevertheless, about 10,000 people were present and witnessed the best day's racing of the meeting so far. The races were all hotly contested and the finishes were close. Tho track was fast and the weather ideal. Tho horses In all harness events lowered their previous times, while In the running races the Btate records were Just missed. Jockey Martin was suspended from the meeting for not starting In a race when ordered to do so by tho starter. Jockey Morris disobeyed orders and talked back to tho starter and he was also given a lay-off to further consider his actions on the track. The first raco on the programme was the 2:35 class trot or pace for a purse of ?50O. The event was won In straight heats by Teddy, the horse going the entire en-tire distance without a single brenk. Roanoke Ro-anoke finished a close second, pulling up abreast in the last half mile with tho winner, but lacked tho speed to go by. Bay Demon showed remarkable speed, but ran half the distance and generally lost many lengths before tho horso could be righted. Tho times were 2:20, 2.21. and 2:31. ,i'it"iH Past Harnoss Events. Tho second race was a 2;35 class pace. Climber made good In this event by winning win-ning three straight heats, coming under i tho wire each time with speed left In I reserve. The fastest heat was paced In 2:191, which was also the fastest harness har-ness event of the day. The half-mile dash was won by Sir Barrv In a thrilling finish down the home stretch. The horse took tho lead after the first turn and was never headed In the race. Bonnie Briar Bush was left at the post. Koenlgan Louis took .second .sec-ond place and Sir Preston got the show. The time was :49J. within a half second of veslcrday's record. Rajah, Electric Liglit. Katie Crews. Senator Shonpc, Weldcn and Nancy W. also ran. Tho thrco-quarter-mlle dash was the most sensational race of the day. The horses got away well at the post, with Berlin taking the lead, which she held half way down the home stretch. Saln-rlda Saln-rlda and Maxcltc came up on the oululdo of Berlin rounding Into the home stretch, and with tho Jockeys lashing their horsps the three came down the stretch almost abreast, with all tho other starters following fol-lowing close In the rear. Fifty yards from the wire Berlin weakened and Saln-rlda Saln-rlda and Maxetto finished so close together to-gether that the people had to wait for the Judges' decision to get. the winner. Salnrlda taking the honors. Berlin took a close third. The time was 1:161. Venus do Mllo. Yada, Chancellor. Walsworth. Handy Chappy. Manila S., Black Domino I and Black Joe also ran.
