Show FIND COUNTERFEIT MONEY IN SALT LAKE ARCHIVES Kvcrv mnn connected with the City Recorder's Re-corder's office for tho past thirty years has been passing counterfeit money, without with-out being awaro of the fact. City uc-corder uc-corder Morcton Is the latest, but he w 11 not be prosecuted, as he is In no way to blame. The counterfeit money that has been passed and repassed was discovered Friday during a search of old records. Two bills, each of tho $5 denomination, were found In flies that had. in all probability, prob-ability, not been opened for many years. One of the bills Is a counterfeit United Slates note and the other Is a note ostensibly osten-sibly issued bv the Traders' National hank of Chicago. The engraving of the notes 13 exceptionally well done, hut Ihe paper Is fllmsv and It Is surprising that anybody any-body would accept them, unless in a hurry. Accompanying the' notes Is tho following follow-ing order, bearing date of Fobruary 10. JS77; "Auditor of Public Accounts: Issue warrant to the treasurer for ?10. counter-felt counter-felt currency, taken by the collector of licenses, li-censes, and chargo to Mayor's contingent appropriation 1 Little. The committee com-mittee also is considering a beauty contest, con-test, to include tho fair women from all of tho states represented by tho (j. C. T. Council SI. and in which it is expected ex-pected that the young ladies of Utah will carry off tho leading prize. Personal letters are being prepared to send to the merchants oi (jlali, Colorado. Colo-rado. Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and Nevada, inviting them to attend ihe outing a ml convention.
