OCR Text	Show MEMBER OF CHAIN GANG CAUGHT IN A CAVE-IN Pat Hays, serving twenty-Jive days in the chain gang for vng'rancy, was" caught in a rave-in while nt work in Citv Creek canyon Tueoday morning and narrowly escaped bciug crushed to death. While ho and othor prisoners were digging gravel from a bank, in which a tunnel had been made by the work of tho gang, several Ions of gravel and rock gave way and slipped upon .Unys, almost, completely covering him. Other prisoners and guards rushed to his assistance and uncovered the moss from him. His head was cut in several places, his side bruised and his left leg severely injured. His wounds are not alarming, howver. He was returned' in the patrol to the KinergoiK'3' hospi-j hospi-j tnl in tho city .fail, where Dr. S. ("J. j Paul, police surgeon, attended him.
