Show - .- III '' J l i 2 .J. JU- J 1 I Only about CO persons attended a meeting to start dissolving dis-solving action of the Bonneville Irrigation Co. It was held Thursday evening, Feb. 20. Meet Votes To Dissolve Bonneville Action to dissolve the Bonneville Bon-neville Irrigation Company will begin soon. Permission to dissolve was given by about 60 interested persons during a meeting held in the Bountiful High School auditorium, Thurs day evening, Feb. 20. At the same time the group instructed officers of the company com-pany to work out a program so the south end of the area can use the old canals to carry Weber water to their fields, while canals in the north area will be eliminated. It was pointed out by a number num-ber of persons that the south area must rely on the canals to bring Weber water in. Some proposed that an organization be setup to control the canals. Spokesmen for the South Davis Da-vis County Water Subconser-vancy Subconser-vancy District said they are prepared to handle them. On the other hand, residents in the north end of the district want the canals covered or filled. There is little land left to utilize water from the canals, since most of the iarms now grow only homes. Now the canals are a hazard. The program to care for both desires will be presented in the future. Reasons for dissolving the company were explained by company attorney, H o m c r Holmgren. They are: 1. Remove any power over properly. Even though no direct di-rect levy has been made since about 1935, the power is still there. This would automatically automati-cally clear titles of all property 2. Get rid of canals that seem to be in the way of subdivisions. sub-divisions. Some are already ploggecl. If pumping were necessary, it would not be done, he said. 3. If done now, there will still be some value. But if dissolving dis-solving is left property will deteriorate. The big problem to dissolving dissolv-ing is finding who all property owners are. This must be work ed out in comparison with the water alloted to the original tracts of land. And in most cases these tracts have been divided and divided, he said. |
