Show BEEKEEPERS HAVE SETTLED Amicable Conclusion of Negotiations for Damages. For sometime past the beekeepers of this county, through President Lovesy of the Slate Beekeepers' association, have been In negotiation with the smelting companies here on tho question of damages dam-ages to the boo men. These claim that the filings of sulphur from the smelter stacks have killed off their bees and practically ruined, the bee Industry hero And vet the bee men worn not. disposed to go Into court. They started with the proposition to arbitrate, and said that If here was not a friendly settlement It would not be their fault. Tho negotiations negotia-tions proceeded in tho most amicable spirit, the beekeepers showing the great destruction of their hlvus. and proving the deadly effect of sulphur fumeR on the beos. When the case wan made, the smelter managements granted the claims for damages and settled with the Beekeepers' association in a lump sum. approximating $1500 for each company This was entirely satisfactory to the beekeepers, who consider con-sider that the smelting companies have treated them with fairness and justice. Much credit Is due to President Lovesy for his aetlvky, zeal and efficiency in the negotiations.' |
