Show DIED ON NATIVE SOIL, But Father Morrissey Did Not Live to Beach His Home. It will be a source of keen rcgroL to many friends in this city to learn of the death of Father William F. Morrlssey, news of which reached Father Kiely by cablo dispatch yesterday. The death occurred oc-curred at Qucenstown on Monday and was duo to tuberculosis, from which Father Morrlssey had been suffering for several months past. Father Morrlssey was a native of Ireland, Ire-land, whore ho was horn in 1S31. Educated Edu-cated in his natlvo county, Waterford. ho waii ordained as a priest In tho Catholic Cath-olic church at St. John's college, Water-ford, Water-ford, In 1SOT. Immediately after Ids ordination ordi-nation he left for Salt Lako City, which was his home until the early summer. Then falling health caused him to return to Ireland, in the hope that tho change would prove beneficial. Tho hopo was a vain one. however, and when Father Mor-rissoy. Mor-rissoy. reached Qucenstown he was ho weak that he whs unablo to proceed to his home, and lingered thero until Monday, Mon-day, when the end came. Tho burial will tako placo at the old homo in Waterford county, Ireland, and tho slncercst sympathy sym-pathy of Salt Lake friends will go out to tho parents in their bereavement Young, well educated, energetic, of a genial disposition, Father Morrlssey made friends wherever he went, and his death Is a great loss to tho Catholic church of this city, where ho has labored faithfully, for six years. For a short tlmo Father Morrlssey was assigned to duties at Do Lamar, Nov., but most of tho tlmo since his ordination has been spent In tho Bait iLako field. |
