Show BURGLAR TELLS HIS STORY. His First Experience in Acquiring the Property of Others. NEW YORK, Nov. 23. An amateur burglar giving the name of Howard Watson, captured In Thirty-fifth street, ha told an amusing story of his first experience In acquiring the property of others. When arrested he had several plecea of rllverwaro bearing the Initials of a wealthy soap manufacturer residing In Madison avenue. One piece had been pawned to buy Watson's breakfast, but was quickly recovered. Listened to Love Story. Watson told the police he had recently recent-ly lost hly position as a hospital attendant attend-ant and waa extremely hungry when he found the basement door of the mansion opon nnd walked In, He sneaked upstairs up-stairs and was about to help himself to some silver articles, when a young man and a handsome girl entered the parlor. Watson was rrlghtened, but concealed himself behind some heavy draperies and wan compelled to stand there several sev-eral hours while the young couple discussed dis-cussed their affairs and the youth finally proposed and was accepted. Remained All Night in House. When he was able to escape from tho hiding place tho fellow found all exits t fastened and was compelled to remain in the house throughout the night. Early In the morning he eluded the servants and "fled down the avenije. Soon after he waa arrested. When detectives visited the house tho burglary had not yet been discovered. |
