An analysis of the exhibit ex-hibit reveals an increase in the production of eacli of the metals excepting that of silver, and in this i be diminution is confined td less than hal a million dollars. The most striking feature of the contrast is i hat which tells of the astounding Lm cease in the production of copper, nor was it uni il the last quarter quar-ter of the year that the copper producers were permitted to assert the tonnages of which their mines are capable. The increase in the crop of gold, notwithstanding the decadence of some of the camps that were formerly most productive 'f that metal, is a well defined one, while the output of lead overwhelmed over-whelmed the most liberal predicu.m mid exceeded all previous records. The StorV of the present year is easily foretold. Not a record establinhed in 1904 but will suorumb to that whn h shnll follow its close. The most conspicuous gain will undoubtedly be in the output of i upper, and copper is King. To that end the sinews have been provided at the mills and furnaces; nature na-ture has supplied the balance. That the American has ordered an enlargement of its plant in the valley, val-ley, and thai the United Slates Smelting company has consecrated a new ono to the lead producer an-ti an-ti ipates ilh unerring accuracy an increase in the output of that metal, while that silver and gold will reveal an increase is foretold in the regeneration of old ramps in which those metals have always been most prominent. Never, indeed, has a year of greater promise dawned upon the camps of a commonwealth. common-wealth. In the mines as well a.s at the furnaces and the mills an unprecedented volume of employment has been afforded the wage earner, with new sources being hourly added to those already opened to him, while the condition throughout is one over which every interest is permitted to exult as never before in the industrial history of the State. THE DIVIDEND RECORD. P.v the various mining companies operating in the State there was distributed in lf0t dividends amounting to $4.1fii.0(H), and that this stupendous sum was not greatly exceeded was due to no in-firmity in-firmity on -i part of a number that will array themselves with this column early the present year. The United States Mining company, which had been relied on for a huge distribution around the holidays which hav jusl been observed, permitted its projected disbursement of bread-money to go oyer until the j.resent month, as did ihe Cemini, although the surplus over which the treasurer of each of these companies is now reveling is a very large one. 'While the dividends with which the investor was presented pre-sented in 1904 are h ss than those of the previous year, they should be by no means permitted to discredit dis-credit the resources of any of the camps. On the contrary, it can be said without fear whatever of contradiction con-tradiction that awaiting the investor in the mines of Utah at this time is a volume of wealth infinitely greater than ever before in their history.
