The record shows that a greater number of buildings were erected during tho year than In 1903. although the total amount expended was not quite so great. Such buildings as the Emery-Holmes apartment apart-ment house, costing $160,000; tho Judge Memorial Miners' Home, costing $125,-000' $125,-000' the Independent Telephone company's com-pany's line building the Atlas block, the Oroves-Latter-doy Saints' hospital, the new Birat Presbyterian church, the Lafayette school. Federation of Labor hail Judd apartment house. M. n. Walker residem e, the Keith apartment-bouse apartment-bouse and the addition to the All Hallows Hal-lows college helped to swell the total I value of building Improvements for 1903. During the last year there have been 1 comparatively few buildings of large cost erected, while many homos, the greater number of1 moderate cost, have een built. Altogether the showing is a creditable one, and the outlook for even greater things for the coming year is very bright. The dwellings and apartment houses built during 1904 will accommodate accommo-date very close to 1000 families, or an additional population Of F.000, and jet no more houses are vacant than were unoccupied unoc-cupied a year ago. Tho record shows that Salt Lake Is adding to Its population popula-tion a class of citizens who demand substantial, modern home9, and that many of her old citi2er, who vj ed are now acquiring hnr T l own.
