A house cat, climbing about In the night, turned tho gas on and nearly asphyxiating eight sleeping persona at the home of W. J. Dunn, 34H School street. Mr. Dunn was awakened at 12:30 o'clock by his daughter, who shook him and gave the alarm that the house was full of gas. Afraid to light a match, Mr. Dunn groped his way from one gas jet to another, sepklng the leak. He found them all turned off until he reached the kitchen, where a torrent of gas met him when he opened the door. He hurriedly opened the outside door and a window, and a moment later found that the gas stove was turned on. Sitting on a shelf over the stove, stupid stu-pid with gas, sat the house cat Climbing Climb-ing there she had turned the lever controlling con-trolling the gas supply of the stove. |
