Neary was knocked down four -times In the first round and Just managed to last until tho beil rang. Ho came back strong for tho second round, but tho Eastern man was too clever for him, and up to the end of the fourth round Neary was noOable to land an effective blow, Neary managed to oven matters In the next five rounds, although his tactics were at times of a rough character. In tho last round Fitzgerald tried for a knock-ouL He landed- two right swings on Neary's jaw. but the latter, although dizzy and staggering, remained on his feet.
