At tho Old Glory horse sale tonight Locanda, the holder of the world's race record at one and a half miles, tho holder of the stallion race record of 1901, and having a record of 2:027;, was sold for ?5300 tonight to Walter J. Snyder. Locanda was sold la.st May for $7000 to L. M. Borden of Wallklll, N. Y. At the timo of his sale ho had a record of 2;06?i, but since then has reduced his record to 2:03. The bidding tonight began be-gan at 52000 and Jumped by $100 bids to tho $5300 mark. Mr. Snyder was acting as agent, and It is believed that the horse will remain the property of Mr, Borden. The contending bidder was Charles E. Tanner of Cleveland, superintendent for C. K. G. Billings, owner of Lou Dillon and. Major Dolmar. Ho bid up to J5300. |
