Show RIVER PROPERTY DAMAGED. Half-Million Dollars' Worth in Jeopardy Jeop-ardy in Cincinnati. CINCINNATI, Feb. 12. Half a million dollars' worth of river property was placed in Jeopardy, one steamer carried' down the river In the Ice, one h'undreo and fifty barges torn loose and sent down the river, and several other steamers seriously se-riously damaged today from the breakup of tho Ice gorge at this point In the Ohio river. The steamer New South, one of the best beats on tho river, was torn from her moorings and carried down the river in the Ice. Sho Is lodged In the Ice pack and may provo a total loss. A rise of ten feet In the river, which occurred during tho day by tho re-gorging of tho Ice at somo point farther down, ' frrccd the steamer Bonanza out of the untor on shore near the foot of Main street, whera she Is In a bad position. At least 150 barges, thirty of them haded with co?d. were caught In the ico nnd havo gone down the river, probably all being a toltl loss. |
