Show STUDENTS RULED OUT. Non-Residents Cannot Vote Whero ' They Attend College. NEW YORK, Oct. 2C. Based on a recent re-cent decision by the appellate division of the State Supreme court denying the right of non-resident students to vote in the districts where they attend college, col-lege, legal proceedings are to be Instituted Insti-tuted at the Instance of a political club at Columbia university to mandamus the boards of registry and compel them to strike every student's name from tho official list of voters. There are 2000 voters attending Columbia. Co-lumbia. Half of them are legally empowered em-powered to vote by actual residence In this city. But the other half are likely to be denied a vote under the appellate division ruling, In which all the Justices Jus-tices of that court concurred. If the mandamus campaign ls extended ex-tended o all the colleges of the State, many thousands of votes will be lost. |
