Show REPUBLICAN LOVE FEAST. Great Meeting Held in Carnegie Hall; Hay the Orator. NEW YORK, Oct. 20. The crowd at the Republican mass meetjng in Carlicglo hall tonight was ao large that tho doors wore locked at 7:30 o'clock. At that time all the available spuco within the hall was filled and several thousand people were crowded about tho entrance seeking admission. ad-mission. John Hay, Secretary of Slate, who made tho first speech, was given an ovation -when he appeared. The band played and Hags were waved In every part of the house, while the audlenco cheered. The audlenco rose as one man when the presiding ofllccr characterized President Roosevelt "a man whom all admire and love." Great cheering greeted Secretary Hay as he arose. Many times while he was speaking Mr. Hoy was Interrupted by applause, and there was a great outburst out-burst of cheering when ho linlshed. P'ormcr Gov. Frank S. Black was next introduced. Speaking of the policy of tho Democratic party, ho said: "A Republican Repub-lican In Bangor. Me., is u Republican ln Lincoln, Neb. A Republican In Now Orleans Or-leans can safely visit San Francisco; but a Democrat this year, unless prepared to chango quick and often, must wtlck closely close-ly to his home. If he takes a train In Portland, Me., he added, for San Francisco, Francis-co, ho must glvo up his Ideas on the Philippine Phil-ippine question at Boston: ho must drop tho gold standard at Denver, and when he reaches San Francisco tho Philippine sentiments sen-timents Imbibed by Boston will be tho highest kind of treason."
