Show DISTRESSING CASE OF DEMENTIA Special to The Tribune. RICHFIELD, Oct. 23, Mrs. Bertha Mo-Hssa Mo-Hssa Porter, wife of W. J. Porter of Control, Con-trol, in this county, was ordered committed commit-ted to the mental hospital at Provo Friday evening by County Commissioner William Ogdon, beforo whom an examination as to the woman's sanity was held. Tho case Is a most unfortunato one, Mrs. Porlor being the mother of flvo children ranging In ago from 12 to 1& years, and sho 1b now approaching motherhood again. Tho moods of the "woman run to Jealousy and despondency. She Imagines her husband hus-band Is trying to get her property, to leavo her and marry another woman. Sho leaves homo at times when her husband is away, and her children can do nothing with her. Of late sho has manifested suicidal sui-cidal tendencies, and It was feared sho might take a notion to carry this tendency Into execution. Mrs. Porter had another similar spell about two years ago, and until after her last child was born. Then sho Improved. It Is thought she will recover again after her next ordeal Is over. it t a Tho smallpox situation In this town has reached a stage where some action of a vigorous character has become necessary. Thero have been ,nlnetcen new cases tho past week, making thlrty-ono In nil since the dlseaso first appeared hero about six weeks ago. Nearly every person in town lias been moro or leas exposed, and thero is no telling to what extent tho disease may now develop. It may bo necessary to close the schools. There Is also considerable consid-erable typhoid fever and pneumonia. A number of babies have pneumonia, and thero have been a few deaths from this disease. The sugar beet people of this county aro "having u most trying experience. Tho railroad company doea not furnish them cars fast enough for the hauling. All yesterday afternoon scores of wagon-loads wagon-loads of beets stood at tho stations waiting wait-ing for the afternoon train to bring down cars. The train did not reach Rlchtlcld "until dark, and many could not then unload. un-load. There were not half onough cars to supply tho demand, and beet-hauling from the fields is practically at a standstill. Thoro Is very bitter complaint among tho farmers over the railroad accommodations In tills county. Dr. C B. Llnebaugh of SL Louis is visiting his collego classmate, Dr. J. B. Haggan, at Elsinore. J. S. ROllo has returned with his family from American Fork, where Mm Rollo has been for several weeks for her health. Sho Is considerably Improved. Gideon Snyder of Salt Lake Is visiting with ills family here and spending a few days on Gold mountain. e County Clerk J. G. Jorgensen has returned re-turned from a trip to Salt Lake. Miss Eliza Staples has arrived from Arizona, Ari-zona, where sho has been for the past vcar, and after a visit with her sisters hero, Mrs. C. J. Olson and Mrs. P. C. Poulsen, has returned to her homo In Elsl-r.ore. Elsl-r.ore. Mrs. Andrew Nlelson Is In Salt Lake this week to attend the marriage of hor son. A. W. Nlelson, nnd Miss Mary E, Richards. Rich-ards. An Institute of the teachers of this county coun-ty was hold In Richfield yesterday and was well attended. |
