Show CITY OFFICIALS BUSY SIGNING BIG BONDS Mayor Morris was busily engaged yesterday in affixing his signature to the refunding bonds recently Issued by the city. The bonds aro of $1000 denomination denom-ination and were Issued to refund tho 10-20 year issue for JG4S.000 mado by the city in 1S92, and consequently it was necessary tor the Mayor to sign hia name 548 times. Tho bonds must also be signed by tho city treasurer and countersigned by the city recorder. This Is not all, olther. After the bonds have been signed they must be delivered deliv-ered to E. IT. Rollins & Son In New York City. To send the bonds by express ex-press would cost about $275, and the question Is now being considered of sending City Recorder Crltchlow to New York with the securities. It is said that it would not cost more than $200 to send Mr. Crltchlow to New York. He could countersign the bonds after ariilvng at his destination and thus avoid any likelihood of being robbed en route. |
