Show CELEBRATION ODD FELLOWS EightySecond Anniversary of the Founding of the Order Observed S by the Salt Lake Members 4 5 S The eightysecond anniversary of the founding of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows woa observed last evening even-ing i by the members of the different lodges of pic city and their friends who listened to an entertaining pro gramme at the Grand theater The uniformed branch of the order for Utah marshaled by Commander Frank Lewis of Ogden and headed by Holds band marched from L O O F hall on Market street to the theater where they occupied positions on the platform plat-form and the building was soon afterward af-terward comfortably filled by an appreciative ap-preciative audience P P Chrlstcnstn acted as master of ceremonies and after an overture by Holds l > and and prayer by Rev A H Henry N C I Price piist grand master delivered an address of welcome tolling In brief of the work and growth of the order llev Pcler Slmpklns gave an address on the order saying that In all the years of Its existence it had endeavored to carry out on a broad scale the principles prin-ciples of the great Christ Its banner S S he said had never been stained with1 the Wood of men or dampened with thq tears of women Miss Laura E Prick spoke of the Rcbekah branch and told how through i the efforts of Schuylcr Colfax prejudice had been overcome and wbmen Avere permitted to contribute to the work of the order S Thd excellent musical numbers consisted con-sisted of vocal solos by Miss Alice B S Kldwell and Sirs Marie Gerrnns with Miss Lola Kochler as accompanist a piano solo by Miss Lillian Oliver u violin solo by George E Skclton and a string quintette by Misses Grace Rndcllffe Florence Maud and Eva Sy mons with Prof C D Schettlcr as director J di-rector Helen Huffman gave a fancy dance and Evelyn Gartslde danced thd Maschcretta both of which were much enjoyed A reading Jackr the Fisherman was well rendered by Miss Lillian May Stayner and a reel1 tatlon She Wants to Learn Elooui tlon by Miss Margtirlc Mulvey was particularly well delivered An overture over-ture by Holds band completed the pro gramme S = = = = = I |
