| Show CHARLES W WHITLEY VISITS BUTTE I 1 charles W whitley vice president pres ident of the american smelting smelling Sm elting refining company was in butte for a short time yesterday en route to salt lake from helena says the anaconda standard where he had been inspecting the companas comp anys plant and the scene of the recent fire he was accompanied compa nied by his private secretary roy white and C W adams manager of the east helena plant while in butte mr whitley was the guest of al frank with whom he is personally associated in east cast side operations at the and butte duluth mines mr whitley is well remembered by many of the older butte people by reason of his having been manager of the east helena plant some seventeen years ago since that time he has resided chiefly in salt lake where he was for years general manager for the american smelting smelling Sm elting refining companas Comp anys interests in that district recently he was elected a vice president of the company and placed in charge of all the plants which extend from the atlantic to the pacific seaboard and into mexico he has also large banking and independent mining interests in utah being vice president of the mccornick bank of salt lake one of the largest financial institutions in the west he is president of the utah steel and iron corporation which operates mills in the suburbs of salt lake more recently he has entered the oil business and already controls large producing properties in california |
