Show ICy W.U. Telegraph-! TWEED INTRltVIEWED. A New York reporter who had an interview with Tweed says tho "Boss" remarked that he felt, jolly, but he looked strangely pallid aud careworn, and yet he jested about Garvey's advent and his own increased avoirdupois. In reference to Garvey's testimony implicating impli-cating him, Tweed said such a turn was to be expected, as no doubt the prosecution had arranged with him before be-fore he was put on the stand just what he should say and what he should not tell. He had been very anxious to leave the city for a short time on business, busi-ness, but was prevented by the fact that he wished to have the case against him disposed of before his departure. It seems certain, though, that Con-, Con-, nolly, Sweeney and Ingersoll are invisi-, invisi-, ble, and that they arc hovering around New York frequently visiting it in secret. |
