Show DOWN SIX FEET IX1 onE I i The Enslc Shaft Down In Rich Dirt E E Clark was seen walking down the street yesterday with a grip in one hand and a sack in the other and when he reached the door of W E Hub bards office he entered and was lost from view but for a moment only a Herald representative was cm his trail and found him in the inner sanctum of I Mr Hubbards office disclosing to his admiring gaze the contents of the grip I and sack which proved to be ore from tlhe new strike in the Eagle mine at ilercur I The Eagle shaft has been in ore for some time but it has been low gre and pockety but at a depth of 222 feet I last Saturday the porphyry and silica capping was cut through exposing a fine bed of ore through which the shaft was still further sunk a distance I of six feet which was the condition of affairs when Mr Clark left and it goes without saying that at last the I company has found what it went after the main ore body of the district and the ore which is a fine quartz will assay all the way from 520 to 100 in gold to the ton When the men were in the shaft at the time of the strike the drill being manipulated by the miner dropped down five or six inches and the water in the drill hole all at once disappeared and a noise was heard as If a small cyclone cy-clone had just camped in the shaft Holding his candle to the hole the flame was drawn down into it which proves that the ore body is full of crevices and that connection existed somewhere with the workings of other mines or in some way with the surface This is considered as an excellent sign as the ore bodies in that locality are all full of crevices and breathing holes The future of the Eagle mine is now I assured and there can be no speculation specula-tion as to the outcome of the property 1 |
