Show I IX XEWTOX DISTRICT I The Helen McGregor anti the White I Clift MincH A good deal of work is going on at the present time in the Newton mining I min-ing district a few miles from Beaver City and while a number of prospects are being developed in that locality I there are but a few who know the actual ac-tual value of the two leading mines of the districtthe Rob Roy and the Sheep Rock minesand the true inwardness in-wardness of their worth may be kept secret for a few months to come but the mining reporter of The Herald predicts pre-dicts that within a period of six I months a fullsized mining boom will take possession of the district and that where now but one claim is being worked that then there will be fifty and that the Rob Roy and Sheep Rock mines although several miles apart will be the nucleus around which two thrifty growing mining camps will spring The Helen McGregor mine two and a half miles up the canyon above the Rob Roy is a prospect that wouie cause a great deal of excitement if located lo-cated in Camp Floyd or some of our nearby mining camps but as it is it is only now and then that we hear of it or any new concerning the score or more of promising properties in that locality The Helen McGregor is owned by William Thompson Scotty I Border and Joe Huntington Considerable Consider-able development work has been done on this claim but in doing the assessment assess-ment work for 1895 the ledge widened out and now the boys have a large body of good milling ore blocked out in the mine Some of the ore goes quite high in value but on an average the rock is of medium grade and is what ore might be called an excellent milliner The White Clift mine owned by I Judge James McGarry and the Twitchell Bros is located between the Rob Roy and the Helen McGregor The shaft in the White Clift is down fifty I five feet the bottom being in a solid body of ore the general average of which ranges from 720 to 1040 in gold to the ton A sale is now pending I on the property and i it is a go an I eastern syndicate will develop the mine and put in a mill for the treatment treat-ment of its output but should the I ground remain in its present ownership owner-ship I will continue to be worked until un-til some time in the spring when a small mill will be put in There are a number of promising I properties around the Rob Roy on Indian creek and the country is fairy fair-y gridironed with strong quartz ledges I would not surprise anyone who is acquainted with that locality to hear of extensive placer workings being be-ing carried on there in the spring for placer gold is known to exist there and it is believed in paying quantities quanti-ties Look out for a mining boom in Newton New-ton mining district in the spring |
