Show I J SILKEN HOSE AN GLOVES I I Christmas Presents From Pavey toM to-M I The story told by the mother of John H Hamilton of how her dead son first became aware of the relations which existed between his wife and Pavcv is interesting Last Christmas Pavey sent Mrs Hamilton as a orescnt so she says six pairs of the finest skI sk-I hose and two pairs of gloves The wife showed them to her husband tell ing him that the pretty things was a gift from a girl friend whom I gf Ir she named As luck would have it Ham ilton met the person named by his wife the next dav and at once commenced menced thankIng her for the present to r Hamilton but the ladY of I course disclaimed all knowledge it Then other little things turned up which the wife was unable to explain with any degree of satisfaction to her husband Hamilton kept talking about the hose and the gloves and had half formed the idea in his mind that his wife had stolen the articles from some of the stores where she was in the habit of shopping With this thought he urged her to confess and tell him the truth as to how she came by the articles He took her on his las and said he would forgive her if she would make a clean breast of It and finally she yielded and told him the whole story of her connection con-nection with Paver which had been going on for six months She said she had been in the habit of going to his place of business two or three times a week and had criminal relations with him himThis This confession was so very different from anything which the husband expected ex-pected that his promise of forgiveness counted for nothing He induced her to write the confession which was published pub-lished yesterday and then he took her to her parents delivered her over to them and said he would have no more to do with her PAVEY PURSUED HER Mrs Hamilton in her talk with the detectives on the night of her arrest arrest fully and freely 1 admitted her guilt with Pavey and told a very pathetic story of how Pavoy had pursued her and followed her He would turn UD at tail kinds of unexpected places and times and seemed to have an Influence over her she could not resist She often came to town with her husband who would leave her while she went to do some shopping but no sooner would he be gone than Pavey would be at her side Once her husband she said left her while he went to a barber shoo to be shaved Pavey picked her up and they went to Paveys place of business and sinned and then she joined her husband again I prayed to God she said to enable en-able me to break with that man and live a decent life and I did for a week or two but he followed me continually and everywhere I rode to and from my home in the car for the purpose of avoiding him but frequently when J alighted from the car he would be there I I passed his store on the way to see my mother he would rap on the window and beclon me in God knows I tried to set rid of him but he wouldnt let me alone and yet I knew he had no use for me beyond his bad purposes I knew that he had thoughts of marrying and that I could never be anything to him |
