| Show CALLED L HOmE Richard Kelley New York April 21 Richard Kelley president of the Fifth National Bank of this city died today aged 70 Gruff W Edward Rock Springs Wyo April 21Griff W Edward one of the early pioneers of this county and one of the wealthiest sheep raisers In Wyoming died suddenly today at Hooper Neb where he was feeding a band of sheep The remains will be taken to Ogden for burial BrigadierGeneral Johnson St Paul April BrigadierGeneral Richard W Johnson United States army retired a gallant division commander I com-mander during the war of the rebellion died at his home in this city tonight suddenly of pneumonia after an illness of only a few days I had been thought that he was recovering when there was a sudden relapse and death I came General Johnson was born in Livingston Living-ston county Ky Feb or 2tIVItd I graduated at West Point In 1S49 being that year stationed at Fort Snelling In October 1S01 he made 18ll was briga diergeneral of volunteers In October 1S67 he was retired with the rank of brigadiergeneral in the regular army He leaves a young widow and infant I child besides two grown sons Volney B Smith Little Rock April 21Hon Volney B Smith exlieutenantgovernor and at one time the most prominent figure in Arkansas politics died today at the insane asylum where he had been confined con-fined several months Mr Smith became be-came insane on the money question during the late presidential campaign and since his confinement became very violent He died of exhaustion Mr Smith served a consul to St Thomas in the Grant administration I I |
