| Show SAYS SHE WAS ROBBED Miss Carrie C Sankey Files a Sensational Sen-sational Suit in San Francisco San Francisco April 21Miss Carrie C Sankey has filed a suit charging I that she has been defrauded of a valuable val-uable inheritance by her guardian I Charles S Coggins and his wife Marie E Coggins The frauds complained of extend over a period of years and form i I the sequel to litigation which was once I the talk of three states Carrie Sanker fell heir to a considerable I consid-erable fortune through the death of Samuel Sankey in liSt She was an I adopted daughter of the deceased and at the time of his death was about 1 tme I years of age Sankey died in Pennsylvania I Pennsyl-vania and left property in that state in Illinois and in California After the death of Sankey his heirs filed for probate the will which was made r shortly the subject of an exciting contest con-test The will disinherited the adopted daughter who was the only heir at law and bequeathed the entire estate to others who in the absence of a will I would have had no right of inherit II I ance The will was first attacked in the courts of this city by attorneys I the disinherited representing disinheried daughter As a result of this contest the will was set aside Miss Sankey being declared entitled t inherit the entire estate Similar contests made in Pennsylvania Pennsylva-nia and Illinois also resulted in favor of the daughter and some five year ago she found herself possessed of J clear title to the entire estate From cer tte entre that time until July 1S95 she lived at I the home of her guardian Cojnrins From birth Miss Sankey has been of i feeble intellect While an Inmate of the Coggins household she suffered a Coggns stroke of paralysis which further impaired I im-paired her mental condition The Cog gins are said to have taken advantage i of the girls weak mind to work upon i her fears She was told that she was I suffering from heart disease and likely I to die at any time I was reuorted that h the event of her death all her property would sro to the heirs of her foster father I was because of this representation says Miss Sankey that she permitted her money and property to stand in the name of Coggins as her trustee The complaint shows that the property prop-erty conveyed by Miss Sankey is now claimed by Coggings and his wife as their separate property They have refuse to make any conveyance and Coggins declines to furnish any accounting ac-counting of his acts as guardian Miss Sankey asks the court to declare de-clare the defendan1 guilty of fraud I She requests a further order declaring null and void all rifts and conveyances I convey-ances and finally demands fnal an accounting ac-counting and judgment for such i I I amount of money as an accounting I shall show to be due |
