in East Waterloo The ceremony was performed at 5 oclock by Rev Dr McNiece and was witnessed by a few relatives and near friends of the bride and groom 0 0 0 The bride is a well known and popular popu-lar teacher in the Emerson school while the groom is a prominent member mem-ber of the faculty of the high school Mr and Mrs Smith left last evening over the Rio Grande Western for Chicago Chi-cago where Mr Smith will enter Chicago Chi-cago university for the summer term 0 0 Jack Royle has returned from college col-lege for the summer The marriage of Miss Kate Hardin and Mr Austin Whitney Miss Cora Lindsay and Mr Milton Bennion will take place today todays 0 0 < S > A Red Cross tea will be given at the home of Mrs J L Rawlins Friday afternoon af-ternoon from 3 to 6 oclock under the auspices of the Womens Democratic club An excellent musical programme is being prepared Among the numbers num-bers are noted a vocal solo by Nellie Druce Pugsley and piano solo by Miss Lillian Refresh-ments were served and Mr Meakin gave recitations Dr Phillips sang and Miss Edna Duncan rendered a Scotch recitation with fine effect 0 Ii The members of the B F Piexotto lodge No 421 I O B B gave a farewell fare-well banquet and entertainment last evening to one of their number Mr Louis E Kahn who has joined the volunteer army and will leave for Manila Man-ila with the company now being recruited re-cruited in a few days About 20 representing repre-senting a majority of the members of the lodge now in the city were present I and sat down to a well loaded table The Army and Navy Old Glory and other patriotic toasts were given and responded to with great enthusiasm enthusi-asm while the praises of Mr Kahn the first o the lodge to go to fight for his country were sung The lodge room was profusely draped with the stars and stripes and other emplems of loy alty and patriotic sings were sung with more than ordinary anthusiasm At the regular meeting of the lodge held before the banquet a resolution I was passed providing that all members I I who now or hereafter join the army or I the navy shall be kept in good standing stand-ing until their safe return 0 0 0 An ice cream festival was held at the residence of Judge Le Grand Young last night for the benefit of a Sunday school which has just been started near there The grounds about the residence were lighted by a number of lanterns and an orchestra furnished music for the young people t dance by Ice cream Nand soda water were sold from booths and the profits were turned over to the Sunday Sun-day school Quite a number of people attended the festival the majority I present being boys and girls |
