Show HOUSE PROCEEDINGS Bill For Settlement of Private land V Claims Washington June 21The house today to-day concurred In the senate amendments amend-ments to the bill amendatory to the acts establishing a court of private land claims and to provide for the settlement settle-ment of private land claims in certain states and territories The house passed a measure amending amend-ing the existing laws so as to make consuls and vice consuls amenable to criminal prosecution and requiring the i bondsmen of such officials to be American Amer-ican citizens This legislation was suggested it was stated by Mr Otgen Rep Wis by the death of Francis Hinton in Paris and the alleged embezzlement by Vice Consul Shropshire of Paris of money and valuables left by Hinton The case I is well known and when prosecution of I Shropshire was contemplated it developed I devel-oped that the restricting law failed to I i provide for it and his securities being I aliens no recovery from them could be made I At 443 p m the house adjourned |
