have passed away since the snow was first wafted in the air last fall Tuesday Mrs Sarah Ralphs died after af-ter an illness of a few weeks Old age was the cause of her death she being 75 years of age She has been a resident resi-dent of Brigham City for over forty years and is the mother of reSpected citizens of this place The funeral was held in the ward hall Friday afternoon where many words of praise were spoken spo-ken in her behalf The body was afterwards af-terwards interred In the cemetery a number of friends in vehicles conducting conduct-ing it thither Thursday night after a week or privations inseparable with pioneer life in this far west and advancing years combined brought her useful life to a peaceful close She is the wife of John D Burt a prominent old citizen izen who is intimately connected with the early history and upbuilding of Brigham City The funeral of Mrs Burt will be held Sunday afternoon Thursday night Sheriff Davis returned return-ed from Ogden with a young tramp aged about 21 in his custody He says his name is Thomas Smith He was captured on the streets of Ogden Og-den with a brand new suit on his back and his pockets bulging out like small sacks of potatoesthey were crammed full of silk handkerchiefs knives and ful other small articles This is a partial sequel to a burglary which took place in Brigham Tuesday night On that occasion the store of Chris Hoist was broken Into and goods of various kinds I to the amount of 150 to 200 were pur loined One of the thieves actually leit his old l clothes in the store after haying hay-ing fitted himself out with a brand new milt from head to foot This Smith is supposed to be the incautious burglar who performed this unique act Tramps are infesting the city and suburbs in large numbers Accordingly < petty thieving burglaries and other similar depredations are of not infrequent infre-quent occurrence The sheep shearers of these parts are now hieing themselves to the wilds of Wyoming where hundreds
