Show SHOWS HIS LEGS FOR PAY Trro Wpoden Ones Making a laving For sv Lame Beggar For the past week or two a good looking well dressed beggar seated on a tricycle has been doing a land office business on the East SideMen Side-Men women and children stand about and drop their pennies into a good sized salt bag as they try not to listen to the alleged music as they gaze at the beggars handsome legs He sits in a graceful attitude on the tricycle with his trousers l rolled up half a foot above his knees showing just what the legs ae made of and how they are fastened on Poor fellow he tried to stop a trolley trol-ley car over in Brooklyn and the cruel wheels amputated his legs in almost al-most < a complete manner The railroad rail-road company paid his expenses while he was recovering from the accident and then settled the case by presenting present-ing him with a pair of new legs costIng cost-ing 150 Somehow the unfortunate man had a hard time using the new legs so the railroad company bOught him a tricycle to use until he became used to his new lower limbs Even then the man could not get work and noticing tEat everybody admired ad-mired his legs he decided to > exhibit them on the public street Since his flrst day with the organ and tricycle and legs on public exhibition he has coined money He seems to enjoy his position and any over inquisitive person can examine exam-ine the legs to their hearts content or if they so desire on payment of 25 cents the beggar will detach the Jegs from his thighs for closer inspection He averages about 5 a night and is exceedingly popular |
