Show BEAT THE OLD MAN Striiisam Boys Held in Bonds of 91000 Each Nathaniel and Ammon Stringham had a hearing before United States Commissioner Greenman yesterday on the charge of beating and wounding their father George Stringham with a dangerous weapon with intent to do great bodily harm The parties live in Bingham canyon and it appeared from the evidence that they had had very frequent family fam-ily quarrels and that on Tuesday last the disturbance was greater than usual us-ual The younger of the Stringham boys dealt the old man a fierce blow with a big iron pot and the other one belabored be-labored him with his fists The boys set up a plea of selfde fense claiming that the old man bad every intention of severely injuring them The court however held that the defendants must answer to the grand jury aAl held them in bonds of 1000 each failing which they were taken to the county jail t After the hearing was over Mrs Stringham who was evidently in sympathy sym-pathy With her sons demanded that her husband be bound over to keep the peace I am afraid of ny life said she He has threatened before to kill me and I am afraid he will do It now I will promise this court that I shall do nothing of the kind said Stringham HI wont risk it He will be sure to do something I am afraid asserted I the wife sharply This talk must stop said the I i commissioner and there will be no I trouble If he does not kill me when he gets home he will beat me as he has done before I want protection demanded I de-manded Mrs Stringham Again the commissioner commanded I silence and the pair went out into the hall to finish their tete a tete Mr I Stringham frequently remarking that there would be no more cattle stealing J steal-ing and the wife expressing her determination de-termination to have the husband placed under bonds as if he was not he would be sure to kill her I |
