Show DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION TO BE HELD AT OGDEN ON SEPT 5TH The Official Call Candidate to Be Xominatccl Judicial District Conventions Con-ventions Senatorial ConTcntlonsv Following is the official call for the Democratic state convention DEMOCRATIC STATE CONVENTION Headquarters Democratic Territorial Committee Sal Lake City Utah August 12 1895 A state convention of the Democratic party of Utah is hereby called to meet I at the Grand Opera house Ogden City on Thursday the 5th day of September 1895 at 1 oclock a m for the purpose I of nominating a candidate for representative repre-sentative to the Fiftyfourth Congress and candidates for the following state offices to wit Governor Secretary of state State auditor State treasurer Attorneygeneral Superintendent of public instruction Three judges of the supreme court Also the election of a Democratic I state committee and the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the convention The convention shall consist of six hundred and fifty 650 delegates composed com-posed of both sexes apportioned among the several counties as follows Beaver 10 Box Elder 24 Cache 54 Carbon 6 g Davis 21 Emery 1 Garfield 8 Grand 2 Iron 8 Juab 19 Kane 3 Millard 13 Morgan 6 Piute 4 Rich 6 San Juan 3 Salt Lake 157 Sanpete 46 SevIer 17 Summit 26 Tooele 1 Uintah 11 Utah 88 Wasatch 15 Washington 16 Wayne 5 Weber 59 Total 650 Judicial DlMtrlct Conventions Judicial district conventions for the nomination of candidates for district judges shall be held on Saturday the 14th day of September 1895 at 1 oclock a m as follows to wit First district comprising Cache Box Elder and Rich counties at Logan Third district comprising Summit Salt Lake and Tooele counties at Salt Lake city Fourth district comprising Utah Wasatch Provo and Uintah counties at Fifth district comprising Juab Millard Mil-lard Beaver Iron and Washington counties at Beaver City Sixth district comprising SevJer Plute Wayne Garfield and Kane counties coun-ties at Circleville Plute county Seventh district comprising Sanpete Carbon Emery Grand and San Juan counties at Ephraim Sanpete county The convention for the second judicial i judi-cial district comprising Weber Morgan Mor-gan and Davis counties shall be held at Ogden on Friday the 6th day of September 1895 at 10 oclock a m Senatorial Conventions Conventions for the nomination of candidates for state senators in senatorial districts comnrising more than one county shall beheld be-held on Monday the 23rd day of September 1895 at 10 oclock a mat m-at the following places First district comprising Box Elder and Tooele counties at Brigham City Box Elder county Third district comprising Rich Morgan Mor-gan and Davis counties at Kaysvllle Davis county Fifth district comprising Summit and Wasatch counties at Park City Summit county Eighth district comprising Millard and Juab counties at Nephi Juab county Tenth district comprising Sevler Wayne Piute and Garfield counties at nguitch Garfield county Eleventh district comprising Beaver Iron Washington and Kane counties at Cedar City Iron county Twelfth district comprising Emery Carbon Uintah Grand and San Juan counties at Price Carbon county Conventions in senatorial districts consisting of but one county shall beheld be-held at such times and places as may be designated by the respective county committees The number of delegates from each county to the judicial and senatorial district conventions shall be the same a for the state convention conventon The chairman of the county committees com-mittees of the counties in which judicial ju-dicial and senatorial district conventions conven-tions are to be held are requested to make all necessary arrangements for the accommodation of such conventions conven-tions The county committees commitees are requested to call conventions for the election of delegates to the above named conventions conven-tions and for the nomination of candidates can-didates for members of the state legislature legis-lature and for such county officers as may be elective this year The committee suggests that the people in their county conventions peple conventons and by their delegates in the state convention conven-tion consider the propriety of Indicating Indicat-ing their preference of persons to be selected by the legislature as United States senators from the state of Utah By order of the Democratic territorial territor-ial committee JOHN T CAINE CHARLES H HART Secretary Chairman |
