Show INDIAN MASSACRE SIX PERSONS LOSE THIER LIVES I NORTH DAKOTA Doubtless the Result of a Mixture of Bad India and Worse Whisky A Most Horrible Tragedy WInona N D Feb 38The bodies of Rev Thomas Spicer and wife their daughter Mrs William Rouse with her oneyearold twin boys and r Wal dron mother of Postmaster Waldron were found on the Spicer plantation near lore today All were horribly mutuated and the tragedy is supposed to have been the work of Indians from the Standing Rock Indian reservation The bodies were found scattered allover over the ranch Indicating that the victims had fled from their assassins The condition of the bodies leads to tho belief that the work was done by Indians and the suspicion is strengthened by tho fact that one Indian was seen near the ranch shortly after daylight yesterday The bodies all bear marks of clubs and knives weapors which the Indians are known to have in their possession Tho Standing Rock reservation Is but a few miles west of here and I is supposed that a party of Indians got away and inflamed In-flamed by bad whisky descended upon the ranch In the night and murdered all the occupants The Indians could have 1 committed the crime and made ther way I back to the reservation during the night There is much excitement here over the discovery and the government Inspector at the reservation will be called upon tomorrow to-morrow to Investigate the affair The bodies were discovered by Walter Smith a farm hand who reported I to the authorities here The bodies were brought to this city this evening and an inquest will be held in the morning |
