Show m GOES TO OGDEN OGDJNJ Rev Elmer I Goshen Accepts Call Prom Junction City Rev Elmer I Goshen of Chicago who has filled the pulpit of the First Congregational church of this city curIng cur-Ing Dr Browns absence this summer has accepted the pastorate of the First Congregational church of Ogden As long ago as last January and while Mr Goshen was still occupying 1 his pulpit in Chicago the people of the Junction City extended a most urgent call to the young minister I Last summer when Dr Brown ante ant-e to take his vacation he inVited Mr Goshen to occupy his pulpit during his absence The brilliant young man I came on to Salt Lake on a leave of absence sence from his Chicago cdngregation and captivated the Congregationalists of the city as well as the general pub I lie churchgoing and otherwise The Phillips church for some itime without a pastor wanted him and durIng the past few weeks Ogden has been rejoicing in having secured his ministrations for one service every I Sunday and are today congratulating themselves upon having secured such an earnest worker as well as 0 most delightful man to lead and to Inspire them Mr Goshen comes to Utah permanently perma-nently from his IllinTvs charge with the very highest words of commendation commenda-tion from leading members of the church in that state such as Rev Gun alus and others Since his residence here and indeed during the past couple of weeks he has had three most tempting offers of churches in the east One of these a charge near Boston Bos-ton represented much in the way of advantage to a student while another the new Boulevard Congregational church of Chicago was certainly a I most flattering recognition of the young i best mans known ability in the city where he is j Mr Goshen leaves on Monday morn ing for Chicago to attend to some personal per-sonal matters and to resign from his old pastorate Dr Clarence T Brown will return from Boston on Thursday to lesume the work of the church here Before leaving for home he preaches on Sunday Sun-day morning at Arlington church in I Boston to one of the largest congregations congrega-tions of that city |
