| Show PICKETT UNSEATED BITTER FIGHT IN WYOMINGS STATE SENATE Election Committee Reports in Favor of Coleman and He is Sworn In Looked Upon as a Rotten Job by Many Special to The Herald Cheyenne Wyo Feb 20A bitter fight was made in the state senate this afternoon over the adoption of the report re-port of the election committee in the ColemanPickett contest case which recommended the unseating of Colonel Pickett Democratic senator from BigHorn Big-Horn county Colonel Pitckett replied to the charges and stated that the committee made no charges of fraud but that the irregularities which occurred in the Big Horn county vote were the doings of the Republican election officers Senator McGIll leader of the Republicans Repub-licans made a speech denouncing the affair as an outrageous scheme upon the part of certain Republicans who by having a majority of the holdovers could pave their way to the United States senate two years hence Senator Cross leader of the Democrats Demo-crats also made a bitter speech against the unseating of Colonel Pickett but in spite of the rottenness of the scheme the whip of the Republican bosses swung enough men Into line to pass the adoption of the report and the unseating un-seating of Colonel Pickett The con testant Coleman was then sworn in This is considered by many to be the most rotten and outrageous piece of work ever perpetrated in Wyoming politics and will kill the Republican party in this state Some Democrats allege that Governor Richards who seeks United States senatorial honors is at the bottom of the scheme while others assert that fudge Willis Vandevanter and United States Senator Clark are back of the scheme |
