| Show MERCUR ROAD BLOCKADED Interferes With the Operation of the Mercur Mill For the week past traffic has been seriously hindered on the Mercur railroad rail-road and the road between Manning and Mercur has been virtually closed by a snow blockade On this account from Sunday until last Thursday the ore shipments from the Mercur mine to the mill have been considerably curtailed and during this period not more than twothirds of the regular amount of mineral has been sent down to the mill On Thursday however the road became be-came impassable over the ridge or divide di-vide and passengers to and from thf camp were transferred at what is known a the upper crossing and taken the rest of the way In sleighs I As it will take several days to clear i the road and lift the blockade although I j al-though it was hoped that this would be accomplished by yesterday noon the Mercur company decided to take advantage of the occasion to overhaul and repair the mill and this is now being done and some of the pieces of sOfe machinery that had to be taken to the shop have already been cent to this I city by express while In the meantime the other portions of the plant are I being overhauled and thoroughly repaired re-paired and when the mill starts up I again which will be on Thursday of this week unless some unforeseen delay de-lay occurs it will be in excellent condition con-dition for another continuous run of several months i On account of the blockade all the men at the mill have been laid off for a few days with the exception of those I who are engaged in doing development work I is stated that the snowfall on the I I Mercur divide is the heaviest this season sea-son that has been known for years A big force Is engaged In cleaning out the cuts and unless the present storm continues and the wind keeps up the track will be cleared of snow within the next 24 hours The Mercur company paid its egular monthly dividend yesterday of 25000 |
