| Show TWO MUTUAL LIFE AGfcNTS ARESTED They Have Been Operating Extensively Ex-tensively in Wyoming MADE MANY PROMISES POLICIES TAILED TO CONTAIN SOME OF THEM These Are the Allegations Made byte by-te Persons Who Did Business With the Insurance Men and Whose Complaint the Solicitors Were Placed Under Arrest Many Prominent People Among 1 the Al legedxVictims Special to The Herald Evanston Wyo Feb 20 County Attorney At-torney J AV Sammon today caused the arrest of two agents of the Mutual Life arest Insurance company of New York who have been doing an Immense business In Uinta county among the ranchmen of Blackfoot Smiths Fork Henrys Fork and Fort Bridger Their names are Colonel H S Wright and A V Ragsdale of Denver They gave bonds in the sum of lEO each In two cases and their preliminary hearing Is set for next Wednesday before Judge Castle The complainants are L V Shurtllff of Fort Brldger United States mal contractor Unied tractor for years between that point and Carter station and J A Gordon Union Pacific station agent at Carter each of whom took out a 5000 policy In said company com-pany Many specious promises they say were made them by the agents which the wer policies when they came failed to fulfill About a score of stock men In the same vicinity were duped In a similar manner and were In town today seeking legal redress re-dress Among them were W M Summers former member of the legislature R B Harvey school trustee at Fort Bridger George Harvey George Stol a Wyoming pioneer and former postmaster at Burnt Fork Colonel Frank Mills receiver of the land office here was also touched but got his money back after a vigorous kick These arrests were precipitated by the suits that were tried today in Judge suit Castles court brought by North Stone against R B and George P Harvey of Smiths Fork upon their notes given to Smihs the Mutual Life upon their premium account ac-count and discounted to North Stone bankers of this place The cases were dismissed at plaintiffs cost and the arrests ar-rests followed |
