Show ANTISCRIP LEGISLATION I Colorado business men especially those of Las Animas Huerfano and other counties where the mIners are paid in scrip are demanding the abolition aboli-tion of the system and petitioning members of the comIng legislature to pass an antiscrip bill This is a matter that has been discussed dis-cussed by the legislators of Utah but they have never yet been able to agree upon a measure It is conceded that while there is no excuse for a contin uanc of scrippayments in some localities local-Ities there are others notabl in the southern part of the state where such a medium of exchange is almost indispensable indis-pensable It is not in the mining camps of Utah that the necessity for scrip is urged wheeyer there is a regular payrOll the I pedp1dtre able tQ get along with the currnIC in circulation but in sQme of tliei111ore remote farming communities uLlie paYdaYcomes only two or three times a year business men have not only found it convenient to USe scrip J ftc i c but pracllcallyjuiupossible so they say I to get along without it < In all probability a bill to regulate I scrip business will be introduced but no one can tell at this time what will become of it The Denver Times believes be-lieves that the Colorado legislature will PMS such a bill and that the governor will sign it It says No measure before the next general assembly will be more earnestly pressed than an antiscrIp bill I 4 |
