Show REFUSED TO GIVE PANES Bank Cashiers Bluff Gets E a IntO Trouble Cleveland 0 Nov 29Thomas Wilson Wil-son cashier of the First National bank of this city was cited to appear bfore the United States circuit court for contempt con-tempt today for refusing to answer a question put to him by Attorney Gen cml Monnett in the bank tax hearing Several bank cashiers were summoned to appear before Special Examiner Belford Bel-ford the object being to compel the bankers to explain the variation if th figures given in their reports to th controller con-troller of the currency and their returns to the auditor of the county for taxation taxa-tion While Mr Wilson was ben en amined by Attorney General Moimnett he made the statement that there was not a taxpayer in the country that returned re-turned his property for taxatien at more than 60 per cent of its true value Can you name one person who makes his tax return at 60 per cot of the true value of his property asked Mr Monnett I can but I do not wish to be the cause of other people being invved in this matter and I refuse to mention any names replied the witness Mr Monnett then had Mr Wilma certified to the United States court for contempt |
