Show VOLUNTEtER nUS1fiElR OIJlf YOUNftM J MORE rAY fOR REGULARS NewYork Nov 29A special to the Herald from Washington says One of the first results of the determination of the peace negotiations at Paris will be orders for mustering out as many as 30000 men of the volunteer army TIle orders thus far cover about 86000 men but not more than 35OO have actually been mustered out The present army consists of about 13000men exclusive of all ordered mustered out 52000 of whOm are regulars The forces contemplated for the Islands are For the Philippines 20OO for Puerto Rico about 7000 for Cuba not more than 30000 This on the basis of 75000 men for the regular establishmentwhich is the number now reckoned on by competent military forecasters herewill leave 20000 men for frontier and station work in this country Secretary Al ger recommends 100000 men There are now 30000 volunteers who are entirely useless in clcw of the technical cessation of hostilities Orders for the mustering out ot these will be issued ithoutdelay which cviii leave 100ODO in the army It was recalled by army officers thru the regu111F army of 25000 men had t C ntinucd onPigc z Loioo i I L ra C J J a a a 1 f 1 |
