De-partment. DON BALL, Farmington fire chief, suspects arson as the blaze started at about 1000 So. and 200 East which is also Highway 106, along the side of the road, about 2 p.m. The fire swept up the hill with a strong south wind, towards to-wards several homes along that area. There was a problem keeping the homes wet down with such a strong wind, and through the tinder dry grass. THE HOME of Michael and Trudy Nelson was smoke filled but escaped the fire as it whipped whip-ped around the home. The Walt and Earlene Elliott -home also had smoke damage but no fire, however part of the barn was burned and a number of bales of hay were burned. THE HOME of Max and Margaret Elliott received smoke and fire damage, as the sparks blew onto the roof. There was a good water pressure press-ure according to Don Ball and with help, the fire was brought under control in about one hour, however firemen remained re-mained on duty for more than three' hours to keep checking the hot snots, kj |
