Show Use Of Signs Stymies Study BOUNTIFUL City Council and Planning Commission members got together last week for a study session regarding Bountiful's proposed new sign ordinance. BUT NOT A lot was accomplished because the combined group got into deep debates about the "knitty-gritty" and sometimes "knit-picking" aspects of the ordinance. That's not to say. however, that there weren't a lot of new points brought out. There were. It simply means that a lot more time is going to be spent on the ordinance before final adoption. THE NEXT study session between the two groups is set for next Tuesday (Oct. 13) at 7 p.m. in the Planning Com mission Chambers of City Hall. 1 he group became stalemated and time ran out before another public hearing hear-ing was scheduled that evening just as they were beginning to discuss use (or prevention) of "olT premise signs" in the city. AND AS one council member commented; com-mented; "We're going to take an hour or two just petting over this hurdle." The proposed sign ordinance, being discussed in detail, deals with sign permits, per-mits, inspection of signs, abatement and removal of dangerous and illegal signs, location of signs, signs that could creats a traffic hazard, wording on signs, types of signs allowed in the city, and size of signs. |
