programme would consist rC outing sketcnes frDii members who have had an outing picnia if practicable practic-able The picnic seemed to be impracticable impractic-able so at 3 oclock the members gathered at Mrs Wedgewoods pleasant home A few moments were spent in happy greetings and delightful social chat though a feeling of regret was mingled with our pleasure at the thought that seven of the members were absent and some would not return re-turn In the absence of the president the vicepresident Mrs Wedgewood presided The first thing on the programme was a very interesting talk by Mrs Reed on Epaminoudas His life and work were carefully traced ovit for us and thus no link in our chain of history will be broken by the summers ad journment Mrs Veatch gave quite briefly the domestic news and after some unanswered un-answered and perhaps unanswerable questions in regard to the tariff Mrs Wedgewood read a letter from Miss Kellogg in which she took as the subject sub-ject of her outing sketch Flag Day In Des Moines August 10 was the day set apart for the gathering of the remnants rem-nants of troops who marched away in the 60s and the removal of the tattered battle flags to the state capital building where they will be hermetically sealed in glass cases and were taken out again It was no doubt a thrilling and a touching sight Recess was taken after which roll call was responded to with quotations several long poems being recited 3r < read The business of the afternoon was taken up and then came the outing I sketches most of which were given in charming conversations The meeting was adjourned and the c p t I fi 5I < < 1 members went their different ways feeling that It had been a most success ful session and that the club bids fair to grow in
