Show POLICE COURT I Several Cases Disposed of IJy Justice Smith Yesterday Another continuance was yesterday l granted in the Furey case which I I should have been heard in the police court at the afternoon session On Friday the surething man was given ninety days for vagrancy and then I demanded a trial on the charge of gambling gam-bling which had stood on the record I since August 23 On account of the absence of the assistant city attorney i the prosecution requested a continuance continu-ance and the case went over until Tuesday I I I P Hull the young hubby who was on Wednesday found guilty of an assault as-sault and battery upon the person of his wife came before the bar of the court for sentence The court imposed I a fine of 10 Which was promptly paid Two ridestealers and one beggar were given ten days each four drunks paid 5 each into the city treasury and two prostitutes were assessed 850 each For leaving his team unhitched Kan ute Sorenson forfeited 2 I Cases Tried in thc Court v The report of the clerk of the police court for the month of August which will go tp the council on Tuesday gives the total number of cases tried in the court as 440 I Jail Very Well Filled The city jail is just now crowded far beyond its capacity there being fifty one prisoners confined in the bastile Of these all are males |
