| Show TO BE TRAMPLED UPON The New York Tribune is the great leading journalistic light of the Republican Repub-lican party We commend people who have been fooled with the falsehood that silver would have received so much more of a boast if the Republican Republi-can party haot been in power to the following which appeared recently in that paper Honor and the welfare of every man and woman in the United States not amine a-mine owner demands that the people trample upon every proposition for unlimited un-limited free cQinage of silver dollars I worth only 72 cents on the dollar The Republican party has been opposed op-posed to the free coinage of silver rightr along It was in control of the government I govern-ment in 1873 when the coinage of silver sil-ver dollars was stopped It originated the Sherman law as a makeshift and to block the way of free silver coinage in 1890 It is just as much opposed to it today as ever There are individual Republicans who are as strong and sincere advocates advo-cates of the white metal in Congress as anybody need be But they are in advance of their party Their proportion propor-tion is very small compared with that of the silver Democrats We refer to these facts solely for the purpose of disabusing the minds of western people who have been deceived de-ceived on this point The idea of voting vot-ing for Republicans and against Democrats Demo-crats because of the sliver situation is one of the absurdities into which unimformed people fall when they get mixed up in politics |
