| Show OF GREAT IMPORTANCE A Big Suit Docketed in the Supreme Court Ycttterdny Washington Feb 24An important case involving the validity of the contract con-tract between the Union Pacific Rail road company and tee Western Union Telegraph company was docketed in the Supreme Court today The United States is the appellant I in the case which comes from the circuit cir-cuit court for the district of Nebraska The questions at issue are the right of the Union Pacific under its charter to give exclusive rights to the Western Union and the obligations of that company com-pany to perform government service free freeI is claimed by the Western Union that Congress cannot impair the validity va-lidity of the contracts between it and the Union Pacific Justice Brewers order in the Justce orde case passed October 1892 declared the contracts con-tracts void and ordered the Western Union to vacate its offices on the Union Un-ion Pacific Afterward the circuit court of appeals decided the contracts bind ing except that part giving exclusive rights to the Western Union which I was held to be repugnant to the act of Congress of 1888 i 1 |
