| Show Clear Creek Colorado Towns Isolated DENVER Colo July 22At midnight last night occurred 1 terrific catastrophe that has temporarily isolated the towns up Clear Creek cafion from intercourse with the world At that hour there was an immense I im-mense cloudburst near the forks of the I creek pouring I deluge of water within tho arrow walls of the cafion I completely com-pletely demolished the two iron railroad bridges at the forks and as far as can bo learned annihilated all other structures in the vicinity the restaurant the depot and all outhouses were swept away in the food Fortunately no lives were lost The immense im-mense body of water laden with wreckage went tearing down the ca 10u with the result re-sult that today from tho forks to Golden there is scarcely I a vestige of the railway left The greater portion of the road bed is washed away and all means of communication com-munication are destroyed After the cloudburst cloud-burst a furious hail storm set in and now it is reported that hail a foot deep is ly ing in tho cafion At 1 oclock this morn ing a train loaded with brio go timbers and conveying 200 men left Denver for the scene of destruction I will bo about three days before tie road is repaired |
