| Show THE TOWNSITE CASE Further Testimony In the Land OfficeS Office-S Yesterday The hearing in the Eureka townsito case was resumed in the land office yesterday morning when Judge Sutherland offered in evidence tho field notes on file in connection connec-tion with tho application for a patent on the WolfTone lode and field notes of the survey for patent on the Home Stake and Home Rule lodes John Stonebraker was called and he testified tes-tified that ho had lived in Eureka since 1S70 and had been engaged in mining dur ing most of that time Judge Sutherland Are you familiar with the boundaries of the proposed town site J siteThe The Witness No sir Do you know where the compactly built part of Eureka is1 Yes sir Do you know where the WolfTone mining claim is1 I saw the ground that was pointed out to me whore the claim was on the 10th of the month By whom By Mr Patterson and Mr Watts Judge Watts some call him Dont you know Mr T D Sullivan 1 Yes sir Didnt you know the Wolf Tone claim owned by him before it was pointed out to you 1No youNo sir At the time it was pointed out to you on the 10th of February did you examine tbe dump at the shaft No sir I did not Have you ever examined that dump I have been over that ground a number of times tmes But you have not examined the dump Yes I have examined it at different times 1 timesWhat What indications of ore did you see on the surface of that claim or on the dump Mr Bird objeuie J I have never seen any ores that is what I would call ore At what time did vou make your last examination with reference to ore or mineral min-eral on the claim P Alone in the fore part of the winter What mineral indications did you discover dis-cover coverNothing more than some iron stained granite or porphyry something of that kind I wouldnt call it mineral Are you familiar with the surface of the paying mining claims in the vicinity of Eureka Yes sir I am Does the bedrock appear on tho surface upon them I At the most of the principal mines the rook is permanent at the surface surace Continuing the witness testified that the surface rock on the WolfTone was not as permanent as on the paying properties Tho hearing goes on again this morning |
