| Show FAIUUN TON FACTS Close of the Neighborly Controversy with KaysvllleNews Notes To tho Editor of THE HERALD May I intrude on your space to discuss country correspondence a little 1 Like everything else it can easily be run past a reasonable limit A little friendly rivalry or discussion on the merits or demerits of existing circumstances and conditions will if conducted in a reasonable manner do no harm but that such things do sometimes pass the limit of reasonable consistency is one more proof if any is lacking that perfection per-fection is not yet quite attained by weak mortals In regard to TUE HERALD correspondence between your Kaysville correspondent and myself 1 am sorry that ho has lost his head no to speak and got mad as evidenced evi-denced by his uncouth remarks in yesterdays yester-days HERALD in reply to my letter in THE HERALD of February 7 He says my article occupied a column and a half The truth is it was not a whole column and a considerable portion o af it was devoted to news and other items The portion referring to Kaysville was as then explained merely to offset some of tho slurs that 1 quoted from his letter in THE HERALD during the past year or more It so overwhelmed him that it no doubt appeared in his sight to be several times its actual length and fully convinced nim that it was to him an unprofitable controversy contro-versy He wrongfully accuses me when he says I intend the belittling of Kays yule and her enterprises before the public pub-lic and he grossly misrepresents me when he intimates that items 1 send to THE HERALD are untrue by saying that wa have plenty of facts to prove the incorrectness incorrect-ness of a considerable part of what he said last Sunday This in face of the fac that the Sunday letter referred to stated that I would enclose the names of parties furnishing tho proof of what I wrote Several Sev-eral of them are and then were Kaysville officials If it were not for the fact tba he has misrepresented me I would not have considered it necessary to answer his letter but would have done as a newspaper news-paper correspondent once said the humorist humor-ist did when the mule kicked l him etc I very much respect the citizens of Key ville and if their newspaper representative representa-tive gets the worst of a little titforta game thai ho started himself I hope they will not too severely blame me for it NOTES An adjourned town meeting convene here tonight to hear reports from tbe committees com-mittees appointea te canvass the town to see if the necessary number of one hunciret voters have signed the petitIon or papers in favor ofa city charter It has been foggy early in the morning and till about 10 a m for nearly three weeks past The snow is slowly melting eo but it is good sleighing and has been s o since about last December 20 Six inches more has fallen since the 6th inst making sixtyone inches since D ho comber 17 Some barn roofs have partially given way under the weight of snow and this seem the only way some of our farmers can tell when to shovel the snow off the roofs It is sometimes dangerous work though dill if euro is not taken serious accidents vi d-ill occur U T FAKMINGTON Fob 15 1892 |
