A Row Between Stewart and Regan WASHINGTON June 12The marble room of the Senate was almost the scene of a battle royal yesterday between Regan of Texas and Stewart of Nevada The Nevada Senator has just met with a decided defeat in the fight he made on Major Powell chief of the geological survey and consequently he feels very tender Regan on the contrary has been the staunch champion of Powell As Stewart passed Regan the latter began chaffing him about his defeat Stewart took one or two samples of Texas ba inage then wearied of it and angrily charged Regan with being the mere tool and puppet of Powell Regans wrath rose He retorted in good kind Words ran high until at last Stewart Stew-art beside himself with anger charged Regan with falsehood Began jumped for Stewart and a battle in which age and avoirdupois were the principal factors was only averted by friends Later Stewart called on Keagan and apologized but Began haughtily declined to speak to him A few hours later Senator Hearst managed to make them shake hands
